Indicators of the country's economic development over the three months of this year, discussions around high bank interest on loans, and recent divorce growth are the leading topics of today's media
The official newspaper Azerbaijan in the article Three Percent Growth over Three Months assesses the indicators of the country's economic development in the first quarter of 2019.
The author believes that economic achievements are the result of reforms initiated by the country's leadership in 2016.
In the first quarter of 2019, GDP amounted to 18 billion 111.7 million manat, which is 3 percent more than the same period last year.
The share of GDP per capita was 1,835.1 manat. At the same time, the growth rate of income of the population outpaced inflation.
The newspaper Yeni Musavat in an article on reforms in the banking sector indicates the problem of overvalued interest rates of bank loans. The government does not solve this problem by shifting responsibility to the Financial Markets Supervision Authority.
Expert Vugar Bayramov sees the solution to the problem in introducing an interest limit on business and consumer loans.
Despite a significant decrease in interest on deposits, interest on loans remains high. At the same time, the expert does not see grounds for this, since the last two years, the manat rate has remained stable.
Bayramov considers it necessary to increase the attraction of foreign capital to the banking sector in order to increase competition.
The website Modertor.az in the article Reason for Increase in Divorces - Fashion for Betrayal calls attention to the increase in the number of divorces in Azerbaijan. According to the State Statistics Committee, in January-February 2019 the number of divorces increased by 1.7 times over the same period last year.
According to the psychologist Zeynab Eyubova, one of the reasons is the haste of marriage. In addition, the growth of divorce contributes to changes in public perceptions. If previously a divorced woman was considered unhappy and isolated from society, now they are often engaged in business, life normalizes, they become loved, and this becomes an example to follow.
Also, divorce contributes to an increase in the number of betrayals. If earlier the betrayal began 6-7 years after marriage, now it happens within 1-2 months after the wedding.
The expert considers it necessary for the future spouses to contact psychologists before marriage. We also need educational seminars for the newlyweds. -0-
