Increasing scholarships in the field of education, the reluctance of residents of the Bayil slope to move from there, and the problems of divorce are the leading topics of today's media.
The newspaper Azerbaijan discusses the decree of President Ilham Aliyev on increasing scholarships of students, signed on February 14. According to the order, from March 1, the number of students receiving scholarships will increase by 16,000. Increasing scholarships will stimulate the development of the education sector. A law on education loans has been also prepared. However, the law is not yet in action, because there are problems with the investment.
The newspaper Yeni Musavat writes that residents of the Bayil slope do not want to move and leave their homes. We are talking about 27 families of displaced persons who were offered to move to the village of Gobu, near Baku. They explain this with the fact that they built houses on the Bayil slope at their own expense, so no one can evict them from there, and they are not given compensation.
As is known, because of the landslide in the TV Tower area, 98 families were evacuated from this zone and settled into rental housing, for which they are given from 200 to 300 manat.
The website Modern.az writes about the increase in the number of divorces. In 2018, 13,651 divorces were registered, with such causes mentioned as early marriage, civil marriage, and financial and domestic problems.
Material goods are put above family values, so there is a proposal to include lessons on family values in the school curriculum.
