On December 22, 2014, SOCAR and BP signed an agreement on joint geological exploration work on promising shallow water structures on the Absheron Peninsula, as well as on a shared division.
Each party has 50%; the document is signed for 30 years. The 3D seismic research program was launched on May 31, 2016, and completed on December 27. One of the wells will be drilled in the Bibiheybat marine area, and the other two - in the eastern part of the peninsula - in the Garabatdag and Shimali Haly territories.
