Media Rights Institute condemns attacks on Aylisli
The Media Rights Institute (MRI) issued a statement condemning the pressure on writer Akram Aylisli for his novel "Stone Dreams." The statement from MRI noted that the writer and his family members are being persecuted at the government level. TV channels, members of parliament and politics are a constituent part of this persecution campaign. As an integral part of the campaign, the writer’s wife and son were fired from their jobs, becoming "innocent victims."
Even the State Drama Theatre refused to stage his play. "It testifies to the intolerance of the authorities to people with an alternative position and thinking, and an absence of freedom of expression in society," the statement reads.
The MRI condemns the campaign of harassment and persecution of the writer’s family members, and demands that it stop. -05D-
