Ministry of National Security (MNS) reports about neutralization a group of religious radicals
The Ministry of National Security reported on the detention of a group of persons suspected of preparing a terrorist act and committing other serious offenses. They are citizens of Azerbaijan: Niyamaddin Khalilov, Beimov Rufis, Gashimli Rashad, Ilgar Musayev, Anar Rzayev and Jeyhun Abdullayev. According to the Office of Public Affairs of MNS, from the apartments of these persons were confiscated four pistols "Makarov", one gun "TT", 35 rounds, about 1 kilo of TNT blocks, 2 hand grenades such as "RGD-5".
A lawsuit was filed under the Articles: 28. 214.2.1, 28.214.2.3 (terrorism, preparation of terrorist acts involving firearms) and 228.3 (illegal possession of firearms.) All the above-mentioned persons were arrested.
According to the Ministry of National Security, the purpose of the group was to violate the social and political stability through sabotage and terrorist attacks, as well as "jihad" in the country in order to create in Azerbaijan a state under the Sharia law. The group was formed in November 2014 , and “emir” was elected.
The group planned to rob the rich people, considering them "infidels", and with their money to commit the assassination of law enforcement officers and carry out terrorist acts in the country. For this purpose were purchased large quantities of weapons and ammunition from a source whose identity will reveal investigation.
It is established that members of the group robbed a cottage in the village of Mardakan. In November 2014, they broke into the house of the owner of the restaurant «Soyuq bulaq» in Gabala and killed him.
In November, members of the group made several raids on commercial properties in the village and Ahmedly in Binagadi district.
In February 2015, members of the group in Sumgait hijacked the car "VAZ-2106", and went by that car to the region of Goychay for robbery. After the failure of this plan, they threw the stolen car in Agdash region and returned to Baku. As a result of the operation by the MNS the organized group was neutralized.
