The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) opened a campground with field kitchens in Moscow for the temporary detention of illegal immigrants before deportation, according to RIA "Novosti" with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the capital. This is at the direction of the Mayor of Moscow, Sergey Sobyanin. The location of camps is not specified. The first migrants, 1,200 Vietnamese were detained the day before in the course of anti-immigrant raid.
Police will check the foreigners for involvement in various crimes, and will fingerprint the migrants. Then they will be expelled from Russia.
A series of anti-immigrant raids began in Moscow on Monday. The reason for it was the incident on Saturday in the Matveyev market in Moscow, where a watermelon seller from Dagestan, Magomed Rasulov, attacked police officer Anton Kudryashov as police tried to detain the seller’s relatives.
At a meeting on July 31, under the chair of President Vladimir Putin, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltzev noted the need to strengthen the fight against ethnic crimes.
