Mourning Procession on 25th Anniversary of Khojaly Genocide
Baku hosts mass rally on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide. The procession began from Azadlig Square, from where thousands of people went to the memorial to the victims of genocide in the Khatai district of Baku.
The great procession was attended by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and other heads of state and government, the surviving inhabitants of Khojaly, members of the public, and residents of Baku.
The action is held to commemorate the victims of the Khojaly tragedy and once again attract the attention of the world community to this terrible crime against humanity.
Participants of the rally carried portraits of the innocent victims of the massacre - children, women and the elderly killed with special cruelty, photographs reflecting the terrible events of the scene that occurred 25 years ago, posters and banners in Azerbaijani, Russian, English and French with the requirements to bring to justice the perpetrators of the tragedy, to punish them at the international level and to give political and legal assessment to this genocide. On the facades of buildings and balconies along the route appeals and placards were posted, saying "The world must recognize the Khojaly genocide", "Justice for Khojaly!", "Do not forget Khojaly", "Down with the Armenian fascism!", "Khojaly - genocide of the twentieth century", "The perpetrators will not escape punishment!", "Khojaly genocide - 25 years", etc. -06D--.
