Officer, who criticized the rules in the presidential guard service, is arrested
A former officer of the Special State Guard Service (SSGS), Asif Latifov, exposing in the press corruption in this organization, was arrested in accordance with the decision of the Baku Military Court.
Senior Lieutenant, Latifov, was charged under Articles of the Criminal Code: 228.1 (illegal storage, carrying and transportation of firearms and ammunition) and 232.2.3 (extortion of weapons and ammunition through threats, and the use of official position), Turan was told by Gulnaz Lyatifova, mother of the arrested. She believes that the charges are spurious.
According to her, the blame of Asif is that on March 5, 2011 he found at the airport a cartridge to the machine "AK-762" , and did not give it to his boss, the commander of the detachment "Betta" ,colonel Fikret Rzayev; but next day he handed it over to the Department of Internal Investigations of the SSGS.
Lyatifova believes that, rather instead of judging the commander for the loss of the cartridge, they arrested her son. She also pointed out that Rzayev was not brought to justice because he is a close relative of the security chief of President, Beylar Eyubov.
Earlier, in the press Latifov condemned Rzayev of bribes extortion from the salary of the officers, and of incompetence. He also spoke about nepotism and non-professionalism prospering in the SSGS.—06B—
