Ogtay Gyulalyev's Family Protests against Delay in Investigation
Baku / 21.09.20 / Turan: A week ago, the family of human rights activist Ogtay Gyulalyev appealed to the Heydar Aliyev Foundation to refuse to finance his treatment, since 11 months have already passed since the accident and the trial has not begun yet. Turan was informed about this by the human rights activist’s wife Firuz Gyulalyeva.
She noted that the petitions of the lawyer Fuad Agayev, who was appointed the family’s legal representative, are not satisfied.
“We have no complaints about financial assistance in the treatment of my husband, but the complaint concerns the course of the investigation. We are told that Ogtay himself should be present, but how is this possible if a person is in a coma,” said the spouse.
She noted that the Heydar Aliyev Foundation fully pays for the treatment. She also reported on a telephone conversation with the Executive Director of the Foundation Anar Alekperov.
“He told me that the Heydar Aliyev Foundation is considering financial issues, but has nothing to do with court cases.
I told him how it turns out that in the case of Tofig Yagublu, the accident was investigated very quickly and he was convicted.
In our case, 11 months have passed, and the investigation has not budged. October 29 marks one year since the accident, but no one has been brought to justice,” Gyulalyeva said.
As for the state of the human rights activist, he has no fever or infections. He recovered and became healthier, but is still in a coma. –06D-
