Ombudsman's representatives visited Tofig Yagublu
Baku/17.01.23/Turan: Members of the national preventive group (NPG) under the ombudsman visited the arrested oppositionist Tofig Yagublu at the Binagadi medical centre on 16 January.
The office of the ombudsman reports that an individual conversation was held with Yagublu. The NPG members inquired about his health condition and provision of his rights.
"A psychologist and a doctor were also present during the meeting, which was held confidentially. It was recorded that Yagublu was under medical supervision.
Yagublu's visit became a response to his family members' appeal to the ombudsman. Yagublu thanked the ombudsman for paying attention to his health condition and rights," the press release said.
In turn, Yagublu's daughter Nigar Hazi confirmed she had appealed to the ombudsman.
"I have appealed in connection with my father's condition, but the ombudsman's staff should have paid attention to the matter without my appeal. In any case, I thank them for visiting my father," Hazi said.
She noted that Yagublu has been on hunger strike for 13 days demanding his release.
Recall that Yagublu was detained on December 23 at a peaceful protest in defence of activist Bakhtiyar Hajiyev. On the same day, a court arrested him for 30 days on charges of disobeying the police.
Since January 5, after Yagublu's appeal against his arrest was rejected, he has been on hunger strike. -06В-

In 2017, the Sumgayit City Court ruled to evict the Aliyev family—refugees from Gubadli (Akper, Sarvinaz, Ramil, and two other family members)—from an illegally occupied apartment in the 12th microdistrict, Building 7A, Apartment 35. The court ordered the property be returned to its rightful owner, Samaya Aliyeva. However, the Ministry of Justice intervened, citing a presidential decree from July 1, 2004, which approved a state program for improving the living and working conditions of refugees. Under this directive, refugees without alternative housing cannot be evicted until they are provided with a replacement residence by the Executive Authority.
