Parents of killed servicemen protest in front of Presidential administration
Baku/15.02.22/Turan: Parents of soldiers killed at different times held a rally today in front of the Presidential administration. They demanded to assign the status of "shehid" (killed in war - ed.) to the dead.
"They say he committed suicide, so he is not entitled to "shehid" status. My son served at Murovdag (highland region in Karabakh - ed.) for a year and a half, took part in the 44-day war. Six days before his demobilization we were told that he had shot himself," said one of the protesters.
The parents said that they applied to all authorities but to no avail. The protesters were invited to talk to the Presidential administration.
Reporters Fatima Movlamly and Sevinj Sadygova, who were covering the rally, were detained during the rally.
The Interior Ministry told Turan news agency that it had no information about the reporters' detention. -06B-
