Polad Aslanov's Arrest Period Extended for Another Four Months
Baku / 05.10.19 / Turan: The Sabail district court of Baku on Saturday granted the State Security Service's submission on extending the term of the preventive measure in the form of an arrest in relation to the editor of the website xeberman.com, Polad Aslanov.
According to the court, he will remain in custody until February 12, 2020.
As the journalist's wife Gulmira Aslanova told Turan, the court"s decision will be appealed to the appeal court. She emphasized that the journalist rejects the allegations and considers them far-fetched.
Recall that the editor of the website xeberman.com, Polad Aslanov, was detained on June 12, and the next day the court arrested him for 4 months. He is charged under Art. 274 (treason) of the Criminal Code. The investigation is conducted by the State Security Service.
Local and international organizations condemned the criminal prosecution of Aslanov, believing that the real reason for Aslanov"s arrest was his journalistic activity. -21B-
