Police Captain Arrested for Issuing Passports to Iranian Citizens
Baku / 30.01.19 / Turan: The Chief Inspector of the Registration and Identity Card Unit of the Ujar District Police Department Shahin Ahmedov has been relieved of his post and prosecuted.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, he is accused of abuse of official authority and gross violation of legal requirements.
In particular, Ahmedov provided several Iranian citizens with identity cards for Azerbaijani citizens. The Iranians wanted, using the documents of the citizens of Azerbaijan, to visit the CIS countries and other states with which Azerbaijan has a visa-free regime.
Ahmedov was dismissed from the police and materials about him were sent to the prosecutor"s office. A criminal case was initiated, and he was arrested by a court decision.
At the same time, the deputy head of the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Orkhan Mansurzadeh, denied reports that 10 officials had been arrested in this case. -06D--
