Politicians and activists outraged by police brutal beating of Tofig Yagublu
Baku/02.12.21/Turan: Tofig Yagublu, a member of the coordinating center of the National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF) and the Musavat Party, was brutally beaten by the police after he was detained on December 1 at the action in defense of Saleh Rustamov. This caused sparking outrage of civil society activists, politicians, and human rights activists.
Leader of the PPFA, Ali Kerimli believes that the "order" to beat Tofig Yagublu came directly from the head of the state.
"I have no doubt that Ilham Aliyev is the direct orderer of this cruelty, and I have no doubt that Ilham Aliyev himself and his team will suffer the most from this cruelty," Kerimli wrote on his Facebook page.
Head of "Musavat" Party Arif Hajili demanded an immediate investigation into the beating of Yagublu, to identify and prosecute the perpetrators.
Human rights activist Anar Mammadli also condemned the beating of Yagublu. "The political regime in Azerbaijan continues to build up the atrocities in its criminal dossier. One day this regime will be sent to the archives of history and it will be remembered with curses," Mammadli said.
Jamil Hasanli, head of the NCDF, also expressed his attitude towards Yagublu's beating. "This photo of Tofig Yagublu, with the traces of brutal violence, is the true face of "legal system" and "rule of law" built by Ilham Aliyev for 18 years.-160-
