The main topics of today's press are devoted to the 25th anniversary of the second coming of Heydar Aliyev to power, the impact of oil prices on the manat exchange rates, and expectations from the PACE summer session.
The newspaper Azerbaijan besides the celebration of the National Salvation Day focuses attention on the topic of launching the TANAP pipeline.
The author notes that this is a pledge for the full-scale implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor.
These projects confirm that Azerbaijan is not only an oil country, but also a major supplier to the world gas market.
The Yeni Musavat newspaper in the article Azerbaijan Faces Pressure Again notes that a number of issues concerning Azerbaijan will be discussed at the PACE session on June 25-29.
So, on the second day of the session, a report on the situation of NGOs in Azerbaijan, Russia and a number of other countries will be discussed.
It is also recalled that last month the PACE Bureau imposed sanctions on the head of the Azerbaijani delegation Samed Seyidov, limiting his powers.
The human rights activist Novella Jafaroglu noted that if political prisoners recognized by international institutions were included in the last pardon, it would be possible to avoid this issue at the summer session.
The newspaper Novoye Vremya in the article Elman Rustamov Stakes on Oil touches on the impact of oil prices on the manat rate.
Against the background of disagreements in OPEC, oil prices began to decline. Contradictions among the producing countries can lead to the breakdown of the OPEC+ oil agreement.
Therefore, there is less reason to predict a rise in price of "black gold". However, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan and its chairman Elman Rustamov apparently regard the situation differently. In his opinion, there is no threat to the manat rate.
"There are no fundamental reasons for devaluation. This year, oil prices are 30% higher than last year. Today's average oil prices at $ 70 per barrel also contribute to the growth of the currency reserves of Azerbaijan," he said. -0----

In 2017, the Sumgayit City Court ruled to evict the Aliyev family—refugees from Gubadli (Akper, Sarvinaz, Ramil, and two other family members)—from an illegally occupied apartment in the 12th microdistrict, Building 7A, Apartment 35. The court ordered the property be returned to its rightful owner, Samaya Aliyeva. However, the Ministry of Justice intervened, citing a presidential decree from July 1, 2004, which approved a state program for improving the living and working conditions of refugees. Under this directive, refugees without alternative housing cannot be evicted until they are provided with a replacement residence by the Executive Authority.
