The newspaper Novoye Vremya published an article entitled Reforms Needed, Not Increase in Number of Judges. Against the background of the unfavorable situation in the field of protecting the rights of citizens, caused by the liquidation of the institution of legal representatives, it is proposed to increase the number of judges. The number of judges in Azerbaijan should be doubled, and in this connection it will be necessary to limit the amount of funds allocated to other spheres and send them for these purposes. The number of judges per thousand people in Azerbaijan lags far behind European countries. As for the direct issue of increasing the number of judges, in this, in principle, nothing is wrong. But first of all, it is still necessary to ensure the quality of justice.
The site Azadliq.info draws attention to the decline in potato production. The situation is commented on by the expert Vahid Maharramli. He asserts that Azerbaijan cannot meet the need for potatoes at its own expense. The expert gives the figures for potato production by years. Potatoes are imported mainly from Russia, Georgia, Iran and other CIS countries. -0-
