Press Review - April 10, 2018

The cotton growing in the country, the economy and oil prices, and the inadequacy of social homes to their status are the leading topics.

The newspaper Azerbaijan writes about the development of cotton growing in the country, because it is always in demand, and it is a strategic commodity. In 2016, about 90,000 tons of cotton was harvested. In 2017, compared to 2015, it was collected by 7.5 times more.

This year, cotton is sown in 22 districts of the country. For each ton of cotton, depending on its grade, it is planned to pay 100-110 manat.

It is planned to increase the production of cotton up to 500 thousand tons by 2022.

The newspaper Novoye Vremya, in an article titled Elman Rustamov Did Not Forget about Oil writes that some officials turned oil prices. So, there was information that Azerbaijan can revise the base oil price stipulated in the state budget - naturally, upward. Now it is $ 45 per barrel. Many rating agencies recently reproached Azerbaijan's financial regulator with artificial support for the manat exchange rate to major world currencies. And, strangely enough, these agencies pointed out that this was made possible by the current quotations on the oil market. By the way, Elman Rustamov again says there are no fundamental reasons for cheaper manat.

The site Marja.az writes about "social houses" and their inadequacy to their status of preferential housing. From May 7 will begin preferential sale of apartments in Yasamal Housing Complex. For sale will be exhibited 260 apartments. Prices for one-room apartments (31-33 sq. m.) start from 29,925 manat, for 2-room apartments (54-57 sq. m.) from 47,282 manat, and for 3 rooms (69-70 sq. m.) from 65,626 manats. -0----
