The essence of the Southern Gas Corridor project, Azerbaijan's expectations of a possible sharp increase in oil prices, and relations between the authorities and the citizens are the leading topics of today's press.
The Azerbaijan newspaper writes that the third of the four segments of the Southern Gas Corridor project will start and in the coming months the gas production in the Shah Deniz field will begin in the second phase.
The author writes in detail on the project and the implementation of its segments TAP and TANAP, and on the increase of the financing of these projects by the relevant European banks.
The Yeni Musavat newspaper, together with the expert Natig Jafarli, talks about Azerbaijan's expectations of a possible rise in oil prices. According to the forecasts of the Bank of America Merrill Lynch, the price of oil can reach $ 100 per barrel. However, the expert believes that around this issue the information is inconsistent, since it is about the growth of the price devoid of an economic foundation. If we take the economic factor as the basis, then the price of oil should fall, due to a sharp increase in oil production, and should not exceed $ 50 per barrel, the expert believes.
In his opinion, the military-political confrontation between Iran and Israel, Iran and US, and Saudi Arabia and Yemen can influence prices. As for the Azerbaijani manat, its rise in price will increase the transfer from the Oil Fund to the budget. The government is interested in increasing the currency in the Fund.
The rise in AZN value may strike the non-oil sector, turning the country into an importer, which, in turn, can lead to an even greater devaluation. The expert suggests that by September the government make AZN slightly cheaper, and by the end of the year the dollar will cost a maximum of AZN 1.80-1.85.
The website Azadliq.info writes about the crisis of relations between the authorities and the citizens, who suffer from arbitrariness and violations of their rights by officials and cannot achieve solutions to their problems, and about the inability to tolerate it further. -0----

The closure of Azerbaijan's land borders was discussed during the parliamentary session on November 25. While the government’s decision cites the coronavirus pandemic as the main reason—despite the World Health Organization declaring its end last year—Zahid Oruj, Chair of the Human Rights Committee in the Milli Majlis, pointed to other factors. He stated, "Opening the borders could result in an influx of hundreds of thousands of non-Azerbaijani refugees due to the Russia-Ukraine war. Additionally, in Iran, many are prepared to cross into Azerbaijan to safeguard their lives and assets amid military strikes. Such waves of refugees could lead to humanitarian, social, and cultural clashes that may threaten political stability."
