Prosecutor proposed to sentence participants of the "Karabakh action" to suspended sentence
Baku/09.06.21/Turan: Today, the trial of a group of activists arrested for participation in a street demonstration in support of the army on July 14-15, 2020, continued at the Baku Court of Appeal under the chairmanship of judge Agamala Gafarov, the Sabail district.
Note that there are total 36 defendants in the case who are divided into three groups of 12 persons each.
It is worth reminding that all the accused are at large under police supervision.
At today's trial, a state prosecutor made a speech in the case of members of the Party of People's Front of Azerbaijan (PPFA) - Mammad Ibrahim, Fuad Gahramanli, Ayaz Maharramli and Bakhtiar Imanov, as well as two members of the Moslem Unity Movement and six others.
The prosecutor proposed to condemn all the persons involved to suspended sentence.
*On July 14, 2020, in the evening, thousands of people began a spontaneous demonstration in Baku demanding to start a war for liberation of Karabakh. The march lasted all night and ended only in the early morning of July 15. Some of the demonstrators entered the parliament building and caused damage to the premises.-16D06-

President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola has invited Azerbaijani economist and political prisoner Professor Gubad Ibadoglu to Strasbourg to attend the 2024 Sakharov Prize award ceremony. The invitation, delivered by Member of the European Parliament Michael Bloss at the COP29 climate conference, comes as Ibadoglu remains under house arrest and prohibited from leaving Azerbaijan.
