Prosecutor's Office initiates criminal case after report of environmentalists
Baku/28.04.22/Turan: A criminal case on the facts of illegal felling of trees in Gabala region has been launched, the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office said today.
"In the course of operational verification of the information published on the page of "ecofront" in the social network Facebook, the General Prosecutor's Office revealed facts of significant damage to the legitimate public and state interests," the agency said in a press release.
The department of non-criminal proceedings revealed that as a result of illegal cutting of trees in Gabala region forest areas the damage exceeded 11 thousand manats (about $6.5 thousand).
A criminal case on the fact of serious violation of environmental legislation, coupled with elements of malfeasance was initiated under Articles 259.2.4 and 314.1 of the Criminal Code. The case will be investigated by the Gabala region prosecutor's office, the press release concluded.-06D-
