Rescue work near the summit of Mt. Babadag continues
Baku/08.08.22/Turan: As a result of sharp weather deterioration near the top of Mt. Babadag (3630 m) in Guba region on August 6, a group of people found themselves in a helpless state and could not go down. As a result, one person, Mubariz Mammadov, went missing.
The other three participants managed to escape and report the location of the incident. Currently, rescuers from the Ministry of Emergency Situations along with police officers are searching for the missing person.
Note that there is an ancient sanctuary in the area of Babadag peak. Residents of nearby areas traditionally visit it in summer. There is a broad path leading to the sanctuary and there are no technical difficulties for climbing the mountain. However, it is very easy to get lost and go astray in heavy fog. Accidents on Babadag have happened before, but they are rare enough. The mountain top itself is covered with eternal snows; however but the steep slopes on the approaches to the shrine pose the greatest danger. -02B-
