Residents from the flooded rea in the north-west of Azerbaijan are evacuated
Baku / 11.08.18 / Turan: Evacuation of residents in the north-west of Azerbaijan from the flood zone caused by prolonged rain storms to safe places continues. The torrential rains that began on August 10 and continued on Saturday in northwestern Azerbaijan caused an increase in the water level in the Tala, near the villages of Khoytal and Voytal of Zagatala region, and Kateh near the village of Ikitala in the Balakan region, the ministry said. As a result, the surrounding areas were flooded, including roads leading to the villages and a number of household plots. The Ministry of Emergency Situations is carrying out the evacuation of citizens in the disaster zone. In the operation to evacuate citizens, a MI-17 helicopter of the Ministry of Emergencies squadron, personnel of the civil defense forces, rescuers and equipment of the units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations are involved.
