A Baku resident, 70-year-old businessman Ramiz Verdiev was killed from a gun in the village Chilaghir of the Gusar region on June 30. According to local residents, he was shot from a hunting rifle by a local Eynulla Hajiyev. The murder happened in Verdiyev’s house, where Hajiyev worked as a security guard. The man was detained by law enforcement agencies.
The Assistant Attorney of Gusar Anar Salekhov confirmed the fact of murder to Turan.
An investigation has been initiated under Article 120 (premeditated murder) of the Criminal Code.
Salekhov refrained to comment on the motives for the crime. However, according to unofficial sources, it comes to protecting the family honor.
"Currently it is under investigation. The motives of the crime and the investigation will be officially reportred," he said.
According to unofficial data, Verdiyev was a brother-in-law of an influential minister in the government.-03B-
