Sheikh Pashazadeh invited Sunnis to mosques on Ashura

Ghazis and muftis held a meeting in the Caucasus Muslims Department (CMD) today on the occasion of the upcoming meeting of mourning Maharramlik, which begins on November 16.

Ashura (the peak of mourning) will be celebrated on November 25. As in previous times, on Ashura there will be Blood Donation. CMD does not recommend the procedure of self-flagellation with chains (Shakhsei-Vakhsei).

Speaking at the meeting, the head of CMD, Pashazadeh, criticized the clergy, urging them to be vigilant in their sermons, and give place to "important issues of the day."

He also encouraged the priests to master modern information technology. Pashazadeh also advised Sunnis to go to the mosques on the day of Ashura and warned that those, who on the day of Ashura  responded negatively to the Sunnis, would be punished.

On Ashura CMD representatives will be visiting mosques to monitor the behavior and performance of the visitors. Pashazadeh also urged vigilance in order to prevent clergy marches on Ashura.

The Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Communities, Gunduz Ismailov, urged clerics to reveal the essence of Ashura in their sermons.

Note that Maharramlik (Muharram) is mourning the killing of Shiite supporters - the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, Hussein and his supporters. However,  Sunnis do not consider him a hero and believe he was an ordinary Muslim. This attitude is one of the reasons for the conflict between the Sunnis and the Shiites. -05C04-
