SSS Prevents Smuggling of Eight Kg of Gold
The State Security Service (SSS) of the country has prevented an attempt to smuggle from Azerbaijan 8 kg of gold ingots, said the SSS press service.
The operation was carried out jointly by SSS, the Customs Committee and the State Border Service on October 27 and 28 at the customs checkpoint in Astara, where citizens of Azerbaijan J. Jafarov and A. Neymatov were detained. They were seized gold bars weighing a total of eight kilograms 291 grams, hidden on the body.
The SSS Investigation Office initiated a criminal case. During the investigation six others suspected of smuggling gold bars out of the country were detained. During searches in the premises of an illegal shop, they found gold and other jewelry, ingots, as well as various forms for casting ingots.
