The case of the owner of "AMAY" is sent to court
Materials of the completed investigation of Abdulla Abdullayev, the president of the group of companies "AMAY", is sent to court. According to a source close to Abdullayev, the case was sent to the Baku Serious Crimes Court, and in the coming days will be taken into production.
Abdullayev is charged with Article 179.3.2 (embezzlement), 308 (abuse of power,) and is accused of embezzling diversion $3 million received in 2007 from the Fund for Entrepreneurship Support.
In April 2014 Abdullayev was arrested.
Protection regarded the charges unfounded, and the problem is economic, not criminal. «AMAY» is considered to be one of the first trade groups in Azerbaijan. Previously, he built his business in China and Iran. Abdullayev owned a shopping center «AMAY» near the metro station "Ganjlik" (from 1994 to 2004.) On May 28, 2004, the shopping center was closed under the pretext of construction of the object of national importance. Then Abdullayev built on Nobel Avenue a new five-story shopping center, but it did not bring him any profit. Abdullayev did not take into consideration that by that time large shopping centers "Sadarak" and “Bina” were operating. - 05B04-
