The Center for the Protection of Political Prisoners (CPPP) will hold a marathon to pay activist fines
Baku / 20.11.18 / Turan: The Center for the Protection of Political Prisoners (CPPP) strongly condemned police intervention in visiting activists of the National Council and the Popular Front Alley of Martyrs and their arrest. According to the statement of the CPPP, the detained and then fined activists did not commit anything illegal. The Center indicated the inadmissibility of violation of the constitutional rights of citizens and their persecution for political reasons. The CPPP demanded that the decisions on administrative punishments of those who wished to visit the Martyrs' Alley be punished and the police who violated the law be punished. The meeting of the CPPP on Tuesday, November 20, decided to hold a marathon on November 23 to raise money to pay fines, to which activists of the National Council and the Popular Front Party were sentenced. In addition, the report "On conditions of detention in prisons and the problem of political prisoners in Azerbaijan" was discussed. The document will be presented to the local and international community on December 10 - International Human Rights Day. It was also decided to continue work in 2019 on updating the European Case report on the persecution of Azerbaijani political emigrants abroad and their relatives in Azerbaijan. -06D-
