The complaint of ANS against NBC is forwarded to the administrative court
The Baku Court of Appeal chaired by Elshana Veliyeva considered the complaint of the ANS television against the decision of the National Broadcasting Company (NBC) of July 18 on suspending the broadcasting channel. ANS asked the court to declare the decision illegal.
During the meeting, the representative of the NTRC Togrul Mammadov stated that the complaint should not be considered in the Court of Appeal, and the Baku Administrative-Economic Court No. 1. In his view, the claim is not subject to proceedings in the Court of Appeal.
However, the representative of the ANS Sevda Maharramova stated that there are precedents, when the company's complaints about the NBC decision to close some television programs dealt with in the Court of Appeal. However, Valiyev judge decided to refer the case to the Baku Administrative-Economic Court N 2.
The head of ANS Vahid Mustafayev asked the court to take into account the 25-year activity of ANS, as well as financial problems of employees. "We are coevals of Azerbaijan’s independence," said the general director of ANS Mirshahin Agayev. He admitted that the channel did not seek help from the international community.
"We do not ask for anything, and do not expect from the international organizations, but they are interested in the question, and we respond as far as possible. However, these responses d not cause any damage to the image of Azerbaijan," assured Agayev.
On July 18 the NBC stopped broadcasting of ANS , accusing the channel of the propaganda of terrorism and violence, which resulted in coverage of events in Turkey during the attempted coup and preparation an interview with Fethullah Gulen, whomAnkara announced an organizer of the coup.
On July 29 Baku Court of Appeal granted the appeal of NBC on withdrawal the license of ANS. -03D06
