The defendants cut themselves in the courtroom
Baku/23.02.21/Turan: Today, at the trial of 11 accused of financing terrorism and assisting ISIS in the Baku Serious Crimes Court, the defendants inflicted bodily harm on themselves.
According to the relatives of the accused, the defendants Samir Gurbanov, Aflatun Bayramov, Amin Hasanov and Aladdin Ibishov cut their veins in their arms and then put the blades to their throats.
The judges left the hall, and the guards managed to calm down the accused.
The persons involved in this case were arrested several years ago. They are charged with participation in hostilities in Syria. They are charged under the following Articles of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan 167-2.2.1 (Illegal production, import, sale or distribution of religious literature), 167-3.1 (Production, storage, distribution of extremist materials), 214 (terrorism) and 218 (organization of a criminal community). The trial in this case began in February 2020.
The parents of the accused stated that their sons did not consider themselves guilty. “The accusations are absurd. They are believers who do namaz, but people cannot be arrested for this,” said the mother of one of the accused. -03B-
