The lawyer is not allowed to meet with a former political emigrant
Baku/05.11.21/Turan: Lawyer Nemat Karimli is not allowed to meet with Malik Rzayev, deported from Germany. He was arrested two weeks ago on drug trafficking charges.
Rzayev was brought to the defense on November 1 and presented the warrant to the investigator, the lawyer said. However, for the fifth day, the defender has not been able to meet with Rzayev.
“Malik Rzayev was detained two weeks ago under Art. 234.4.3 (Large scale drug trafficking). In relation to him, a court decision has chosen a preventive measure in the form of arrest for a period of 4 months. He was placed in SIZO-3 in Shuvelan. Yesterday and today I tried to meet with him, but they told me that Rzayev had been transferred to the bullpen of the Sumgayit Police Department. This was done without notifying me as a lawyer," Karimli said.
It was not possible to get comments from the Penitentiary Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Rzayev was arrested virtually simultaneously with the PFPA activist Mutallim Orudzhev, who was charged with a similar charge. They were both deported from Germany in June this year. According to human rights activists, both were in Germany and actively participated in protest actions in defense of Azerbaijani political prisoners. --0--
