The number of abortions increases
According to the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan the number of abortions is constantly growing. Thus, in 2000, women aged 15 to 49 years made 95.200 abortions, in 2013 there were - 146,600. Per thousand women in 2000 there were an average of 7.8 abortions, and in 2013 - 10.4.
For every one hundred births in 2000 there were 18,4 abortion, and in 2013 - 19.0.
This is statistics of abortions by age category. For example, women aged 15-19 years in 2000 made 572 abortions, and in 2013 - 1147.
At the age of 20-24 years, in 2000 there were 4,249 abortions, and in 2003 – 5710 abortions.
At the age of 25-29 years, in 2000 - 5064, and in 2013 - 8958 abortions.
At the age of 30-34 years, in 2000, were made 4572 abortion, and in 2013 – 7849 abortions.
At the age of 35 and above, in 2000 were made 3072 abortions, and in 2013 - 4228.
According to statistics, the highest number of abortions make women aged from 20 to 35 years.
At the same time, the State Statistics Committee says nothing about selective abortion, when parents decide to get rid of a child because of its gender.-04D-
