The number of appeals to the Republican Narcological Center is growing
Baku/22.03.21/Turan: Cases of poly-drug abuse, that is, the joint intake of two or more synthetic, semi-synthetic and natural drugs, have increased recently in Azerbaijan.
The joint use of the synthetic psychoactive substance "methamphetamine" from the group of psychostimulants and opiates causes acute disorders in the nervous system of users. In such cases, along with narcologists, the help of psychotherapists and neuropathologists is also required for treatment, Parvin Mammadov, head of the department of the Republican Narcological Center, told Turan.
"Currently, the number of registered drug users in the Center is 33,788. Of these 618 are women, 9 are 15-17 years old, 12,969 are 18-34 years old. Last year this figure was 32,921. However, this growth should not be considered as an increase in the number of drug users in the Republic. I think that this is a change in the number of visits to the drug treatment center; that is, we regard this as an increase in confidence in the treatment carried out in the center," Parvin Mammadov added. - 0 ---

Baku, often called the "Caucasian Dubai," is increasingly known for systematic violations of residents' housing rights. During urban renovations and the construction of elegant new buildings, thousands of families in Azerbaijan’s capital have been unlawfully deprived of their homes. Many, recognizing the futility of resistance, settle for inadequate monetary compensation for their irreplaceable property. A minority, placing faith in the Housing Code, demand fair compensation from construction companies but often lose everything—both their homes and any form of recompense.
