The Prosecutor"s Office Opened Criminal Proceedings against Gular Ahmedova
The scandalous video showing MP Gular Ahmedova extorting 500,000 USD from the Rector of the International University, Elshad Abdullayev, for his election to Parliament caused the Baku Prosecutor to initiate a criminal case under Article 178.3.2 of the Criminal Code (seizure of another's property in a large amount through abuse of trust).
This was announced on Friday by the head of the press service of the General Prosecutor's Office Eldar Sultanov. According to him, the video that began to circulate on the Internet on September 25 has been investigated by the Baku Prosecutor's Office.
Given the evidence of fraud, of capturing people's property and breach of trust, and the need for immediate, prompt and objective investigation, a criminal case was filed under Article 178.3.2 of the Criminal Code.
Forensic examination for the portraits, video and audio recordings has been scheduled, and instructions and operational tasks have been sent to the relevant authorities. Interrogations and other necessary investigations are arranged. The public will be informed when additional information is available, Sultanov said. -06D-
