Baku / 25.05.17 / Turan: Excavations in the places of burial of the victims of the Karabakh war are unacceptable, reads the message of the State Commission for Prisoners of War, hostages and missing persons. "A number of media published photo and video materials of unidentified war participants in Karabakh. A number of citizens tried to illegally unearth these graves," it was reported.
The State Commission notes that there are certain rules for the excavation of such graves and that the necessary work is in progress with the Red Cross. "Upon completion of these works, exhumation will be conducted in accordance with international standards and the identified remains of the deceased will be transferred to relatives," the report said.
The State Commission stresses that arbitrary work on exhumation is illegal and entails criminal liability. -05D-
