Political Prisoners Protection Centre (PPPC) prepared a study-report in the "Nardaran case": political motives, lawlessness and reality," which will be presented to the public. The "Nardaran case" occurred after police operations November 26, 2015 in the village of Nardaran, where residents adhere to strict Shiite traditions. There have been numerous arrests, on charges against the state, religious extremism, possession of weapons, etc. International organizations HRW, Amnesty International find the case fabricated and demanded the release of those arrested and sentenced to long terms of imprisonment.-0—

On December 25, an Embraer 190 passenger plane operated by Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC (AZAL), on a Baku–Grozny flight, crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. Azerbaijan’s Consul General in Aktau, Ayxan Suleymanlı, stated that the plane had 67 people onboard, including crew members, 38 of whom died. According to him, 26 of the deceased were Azerbaijani citizens.
