The trial in the case of persons accused of state treason
Baku/11.01.18/Turan: A group of civilians accused of state treason will appear before the Baku Military Court. The investigation, started on May 3 by the Military Prosecutor's Office under Article 274 of the Criminal Code (treason), has been completed. During the investigation, a group of civilians and military were accused of cooperation with Armenian intelligence and arrested. The exact number of those arrested is not reported.
The joint statement of the Prosecutor General's Office, the Ministry of Defense and the State Security Service of May 7, 2017, reads that the Armenian special services were preparing large-scale provocations in the front-line Terter region. In the course of the measures taken, these plans were foiled. It was established that a group of military and civilians was involved in cooperation with Armenian intelligence and handed the enemy information of a military nature for reward. According to the Prosecutor General, the espionage network was exposed by the leadership of the Defense Ministry. In the following period, local media reported that some of those arrested were killed during the interrogations, but there was no official information on this matter. -03B-
