The trial of Fuad Ahmadli will begin on April 13
Baku/13.04.17/Turan: The preparatory hearing on the case of People's Front Party (PFPA) activist Fuad Ahmadli is scheduled for 10:00 on April 13 in the Baku Grave Crimes Court. According to lawyer Asabali Mustafayev, the defense intends to seek the termination of the criminal prosecution of Ahmedli on justifiable grounds. Fuad Ahmadli was detained on August 18, 2016. At the same time, the State Security Service and the Prosecutor General's Office stated that Ahmedli, working as an operator in the "Call Center" of Azerfon LLC, transferred personal data of subscribers to third parties. It was also alleged that during the search, books, CDs with speeches by the Turkish preacher Fetulla Gulen were found at Ahmedli's apartment.
On 6 March, the charges against Ahmadli were reclassified from Article 302.1 (violation of the law on operational-search activity) and 308.1 (abuse of office) of the Criminal Code to paragraphs 2 of the same articles, providing for responsibility for grave consequences.
Ahmedli rejected accusations. Under previous accusations Ahmedli threatened three years of imprisonment, but under the new charges he can be imprisoned to 8 years of imprisonment.-06B ---
