Baku / 29.08.20 / Turan: At the trial on the case of opposition politician Tofig Yagublu on Friday, he again demanded admission of representatives of civil society and the media to the meeting.

Turan was informed about this by Yagublu's relatives.

“The buses are overcrowded, and this does not bother the Operational Headquarters under the Cabinet of Ministers.

It turns out that the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers only works in my trial,” Yagublu said in response to the explanation by judge Nariman Mehdiyev about the limitation of the number of those present in the hall by the decision of the operational headquarters on the observance of social distance.

First, at the trial, witness Ali Agayev was heard, who answered practically all questions “I don’t know”, “I don’t remember”.

At the same time, he said that he was first summoned for the preliminary investigation only 2 months after the day of the incident.

His testimony in court contradicted what he said during the investigation.

In this regard, the judge read out his testimony at the preliminary investigation.

However, the witness confirmed the testimony given at the trial.

Further, at the trial, witness Mirmuhammed Mahmudzadeh was heard, who said that he confirmed the testimony at the preliminary investigation.

The lawyers petitioned to view the records from Yagublu's mobile phone, send a request to mobile operators to obtain information about the trajectory of the mobile phones of witnesses on the day of the accident, and questioning witnesses for the defense.

However, the judge granted only the first motion.

The next meeting is scheduled for September 1.

* On March 22, a parked car in which Tofig Yagublu was sitting was hit by a car driven by a citizen Elkhan Jabrailov. After that, Jabrailov entered into a fight with Yagublu, accusing him of the accident.

The Nizami district police opened a criminal case under Article 221.3 of the Criminal Code (hooliganism using objects as weapons).

Yagublu himself and his colleagues called the incident a provocation in order to condemn the oppositionist for his criticism of the government on social networks. International human rights organizations condemned the arrest of Yagublu. -21B06-
