Trade union activist Afiyaddin Mammadov detained
Baku/20.09.23/Turan: Chairman of the alternative Confederation of Trade Unions Afiyaddin Mamedov was detained by police on the afternoon of September 20 near his home.
“Afiyaddin was detained when he left the building where he lives. One person approached him, he injured himself with a knife and threw the knife at Afiyaddin. And the police immediately appeared and detained Afiyaddin,” the trade union organization told Turan.
The organization believes that Mamedov’s detention is related to his trade union activities and a provocation was committed against him.
On September 20, social activist Nemat Abbasov was also detained. He was first detained by employees of the State Security Service, and then taken to the 17th department of the Narimanov district police department.

During the operation of the Main Drug Control Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 5 members of an organized group engaged in drug trafficking were detained. All of them have previous convictions: Bahlul Ismayilov, Royal Aliyev, Khayal Aliyev, Samir Aghayev, and Ali Mammadli.
