Two people died due to mudslides in Goygol region
Baku/26.05.23/Turan: Two people were killed as a result of mudslides in the Goygol region of the country on the Ganjachay river in western Azerbaijan.
Ganja regional group of the press service of the Interior Ministry told Turan that on May 25 two people were reported missing as a result of mudslides near the village of Topalgasanly - Mukhtar Huseynov born in 1954 and Ibrahim Gurbanov born in 2001.
The bodies of these persons were found on the morning of May 26, 15 km away, in the lower reaches of the river in the city of Ganja.
It must be reclled that mudflows on May 25 in the Goygol region damaged gas, electricity, communications and roads in a number of villages, the local administration told Turan.
By Friday afternoon, traffic was restored. Electricity and gas supply has been partially resumed in the flood-affected villages: Topalgasanly, Shakhriyah, Keremli and Zurnabad.
According to preliminary data, 5 vehicles were damaged. Measures are being taken to clarify the damage and eliminate its consequences, the same source noted.
According to the National Hydrometeorology Service, precipitation in the northern and western regions will continue until May 31. Precipitation will be intense in mountainous and foothill areas. Thunderstorms and hail are possible. East wind will increase to 18-23 m/s. Threat of mudslides remains. -06B-
