US Ambassador Takes Part in Bike Ride in Support of Ecology
On Sunday in Baku under the slogan "Think globally, act locally" there was a bike ride. The race organized by the Club of Green cyclist youth public association "Friends of Nature" was attended by about 50 people, including the US Ambassador to Baku Robert Cekuta.
The bike ride started at Baku Seaport. The route length of 13 km led through Nobel Avenue. The action was the promotion of the bicycle as an environmentally friendly mode of transport, environmental education and encouraging society to a more responsible attitude to the environment.
US Ambassador noted that the event showed a general attitude to nature inherent to the people of Azerbaijan and America.
"Azerbaijanis and Americans love to relax surrounded by nature and at the same time to join forces to protect the environment," the Ambassador said.
He drew attention to yet another unifying factor.
"US First Lady Michelle Obama has taken a keen interest in the sport. She always strongly emphasizes that people have to move and play sports. At the same time, we have seen that the First Lady of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva played a crucial role in the European Games and contributes to the development of sport, " Cekuta said. -03C06--
