Water content remains low on many Azerbaijani rivers due to drought
Baku/31.08.22/Turan: The rivers of Azerbaijan dramatically reduced water content in August, the National Hydrometeorology Service said on August 31.
The reason was low precipitation, abnormal heat and increased evaporation. Only once, there were short-lived mudflows on the Dastafurchai and Ganjachai rivers as a result of intensive downpours in Minor Caucasus.
Water content in the rivers of Minor Caucasus declined by 25% of the norm. However, as compared to the last year, the water content rose by 36%.
The amount of water in Major Caucasus rivers was close to the norm in August and exceeded the previous year's amount by 18%.
Owing to the expected precipitation on September 5, rivers' water content is going to rise.-05В06-
