Baku / 01.10.20 / Turan: The data of the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan on the destroyed Armenian equipment in Karabakh make it possible to draw certain conclusions and summarize the first results.
First of all, there is an overwhelming advantage of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in the air. Judging by the released video footage, most of the strikes on Armenian positions and troops are delivered by combat drones and artillery. The enemy's air defense system has been practically eliminated, especially taking into account the destruction of the one unit of S-300 system, as well as more than two dozen Osa, Strela and other systems.
According to data from open sources, the Armenians in Karabakh remain armed with several Krug, Kub, S-125 air defense systems, as well as one Elbrus and Tochka-U missile systems.
At the same time, almost half of the Grad multiple launch rocket systems were destroyed.
A powerful blow was dealt to the enemy's artillery, which lost almost half of the gun mounts.
Significant damage was inflicted on the armored vehicles of the Armenians, the losses of which can be estimated at 40-50% of the total.
The number of destroyed vehicles exceeds 100 units.
It should be noted that the Armenians suffered these losses not in the course of frontal tank battles or motorized rifle attacks, which speaks of relatively small losses from the Azerbaijani side.
The high efficiency of combat drones clearly caught the enemy by surprise, which in just 4 days had already lost at least half of its military equipment. At the same time, all attempts to neutralize the combat drones of Azerbaijan have failed completely.
The destruction of command staffs and depots with ammunition and fuel significantly disorganizes the command and control of troops and contributes to an increase in the number of casualties in the Armenian manpower.
After two days, the Armenian side began to hide the number of dead and wounded, which, according to the Azerbaijani side, exceeded 2500 people. But even if we assume that these are overstated figures, then the real number of killed and wounded is not less than one thousand, which is unprecedented and exceeds the figures of losses during the war of 92-94 per 4 days of fighting.
It should also be noted that regular units of the Armenian Armed Forces are fighting in Karabakh, and not just the self-defense forces of Karabakh, although in fact it is one whole.
From all that has been said, we can conclude that the "strongest army" in the South Caucasus turned out to be absolutely unprepared for modern war, either strategically, morally or technically.
For years, Armenians have drummed into the heads of their population that Azerbaijanis are lazy and cowardly, and they know how to trade, but not fight. Such propaganda played a fatal role, convincing the Armenians that their enemy was not capable of anything.
Now the enemy is trying to explain their losses in the war with the participation of the Turkish military and make the same mistake - they form in the minds of their own people the idea of the impossibility of defeating the Turkish army, which means that they must come to terms with inevitable defeat.
It should also be noted that by the fifth day of the war, the Azerbaijani air forces and long-range anti-aircraft missile forces had not yet entered the battle.
Separately, it should be said about the failure of the hopes of Armenians to involve Russia in the conflict. Nikol Pashinyan's September 30 statements, made after his conversation with Putin, finally buried Yerevan's hopes for a peaceful way out of the conflict.
In fact, Pashinyan again rejected the so-called "Lavrov Option" and the meeting with Ilham Aliyev under the auspices of the Kremlin. Such a harsh demarche and a public statement about refusal of Moscow's mediation do not bode well for the Pashinyan government and Armenia itself. Probably, by doing this, the Armenian Prime Minister made his biggest mistake. -02B-
