The level of food consumption is very low and continues to decline

Calculations based on information provided by the State Customs Committee (SCC) showed that in January-May 2024, food products imported to Azerbaijan increased by 3.4% in value terms compared to the same period last year.

For several months now, prices for basic foodstuffs have been rising in the world. According to information published by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) these days, the FAO Food Price Index in May 2024 increased by 0.9% compared to the April figure of the previous year. In May 2024, the FAO price indices for cereals, dairy and meat products increased, while the price indices for sugar and vegetable oils decreased.

According to the State Statistics Committee (SSC), the value of gross agricultural output in actual prices for January - April 2024 amounted to 2115.9 million manats, of which 1950.1 million manats accounted for livestock products, 165.8 million manats for crop production.
