Azerbaijani jazzmen to perform at jazz festival in France
International Jazz Festival Jazz en Baie (Jazz on the coast) is taking place in the French town of Granville from August 11 to 19. On August 17 evening the Azerbaijani jazz band led by pianist Emil Afrasiyab will perform.
The program of festival noted that the participation of the Azerbaijani artists has significance for the cultural exchange between Europe and the Caspian region. In particular, the musical culture of Azerbaijan has deep historical roots and traditions of modern jazz music.
Emil Afrasiyab represented Azerbaijan in 2011 at a festival in Montreux, where he received one of prizes. Since then he has participated in many festivals in Europe. "This is a brilliant pianist, with an incredible technique and with great lyricism, and Jazz en Baie boasts a meeting with the musician," noted in the festival program.
In his talk with Turan, Emil said that the Quartet, which also includes Iskender Aleskerov (drums), Parviz Mammadov (bass) and Shirzad Fataliyev (Balaban) will perform on 17 August, several folk songs - "Sari Gelin", " Evlyari var Khana Khana", as well as the composition by Afrasiyab.
