Baku / 01.05.18 / Turan: On Monday the US Embassy organized a concert in Mugam Center on Monday dedicated to the International Jazz Day. Speaking at the opening of the US Charge d'Affaires in Azerbaijan William Gil, said that he has a personal passion for jazz, which is becoming more relevant in the modern world. In the late 19th century, jazz originated in New Orleans, an American musical genre. It spread throughout the world, relying on national, regional and local musical cultures. Jazz provides greater freedom of expression.
Azerbaijan, which has a long history of multiculturalism, strives to become a model of inclusive values. Perhaps that is why jazz has such strong roots here in Azerbaijan, a country that stands out for creating its jazz style, the diplomat noted and introduced the Kennedy Administration group. We must admit that jazz lovers enjoyed the dialogue with this wonderful band and, above all, his vocalist. The band, playing a rhinestone in different styles, surprised the audience with its energy. -02D-
