Music Festival Dedicated to Uzeyir Hajibeyov Begins
Baku / 09/18/19 / Turan: Birthday of the outstanding Azerbaijani composer Uzeyir Hajibeyov - September 18 is celebrated in the country as the Day of National Music.
The start of the International Music Festival dedicated to Hajibeyov, organized by the Ministry of Culture and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, is timed to coincide with this date.
The festival will last up to 10 days.
Uzeyir Hajibeyov (1885-1948) is the founder of modern professional musical art of Azerbaijan. Hajibeyov wrote the first opera in the Muslim world, Leili and Majnun, in 1908. -0---
