Rustam Ibrahimbeyov congratulateS Azerbaijani Cinematographers
Chairman of the Union of Cinematographers of Azerbaijan, Rustam Ibrahimbayov, sent congratulations to the members of the Union of Cinematographers in connection with the Day of Azerbaijani Cinema, celebrated annually on August 2. The letter states:
"I congratulate all members of the Union of Cinematographers of Azerbaijan on the occasion of professional holiday. According to the established tradition in recent years, the Secretariat presents awards Azerbaijani cinema figures in the categories that mark their creative achievements in the past year, and for the entire professional life.
I am very sorry that I could not attend the awards ceremony due to circumstances beyond my control.
The Union of Cinematographers of Azerbaijan in all the years of its existence, defended the interests of national cinema, keeping in view its features talented creators and their films. Nominations being awarded in 2014 are convincing proof of this.
Finally, if I were among you on the award day I would say: "Our Union has always been far from the political life of the country, do not know whether it is good or bad, but it is an undeniable fact, and I am convinced that sooner or later justice will prevail, and the difficult situation in which our organization is, will be overcome. "Now I express my gratitude to all members of the Union of Cinematographers of Azerbaijan for civil courage, which I am sure , will find its proper reflection in the history of cinema. I embrace all the participants of the ceremony, and join all that is said in the address of recipients," the message says.
According to the Union of Cinematographers, an awards ceremony will be held in mid-August.
A well-known screenwriter, Rustam Ibrahimbayov, was persecuted by the authorities after he disagreed with the official government policy. Pressure on Ibrahimbayov further intensified after he became the presidential candidate of the opposition in the election of 2013. Authorities did everything to prevent his participation in the elections, and threatened to arrest him if he returns to Baku. -02D-

On February 11, the Ritual Theatre and Creative Laboratory in Baku hosted a powerful documentary theatre performance, “The Melting Snow Stories of Baku,” marking the conclusion of a workshop dedicated to site-specific theatre. This workshop brought together 15 artists from various age groups, all exploring the transformative power of storytelling to address climate change. The event was directed by British theatre director Sebastian Harcombe of SECRET/HEART Theatre Company and Aynur Zərrintac of Ritual Theatre. It was supported by the British Council.
