Screening a new film about Caucasian Che Guevara, Khamzat Khankarov
Baku/20.06.19/Turan: Documentary filmmaker Lachin Mamishov, who immigrated to Switzerland, presented his new film. It tells about the glorious military way of a social and political figure, a musician, the National Hero of Chechnya, Khamzat Khankarov, who played an important role in the events of 1988-94 in the Caucasus.
The documentary reflects such events as the convening the National Chechens' Congress, inviting Djovhad Dudayev to Chechnya, and holding presidential elections in Chechnya when Khamzat Khankarov was organized. As well as the creation of the Confederation of the Peoples of the Caucasus, Khamzat Khankarov meeting with the then Georgian President Zviad Gamsakhurdia with the aim of resolving the Abkhaz problem that had begun in Georgia and many interesting historical moments in a peaceful way.
As the film's author, Lachin Mamishov told Turan, "in connection with his professional activities, he has always researched the newest history of the entire Caucasus along with the modern history of Azerbaijan. Whether it is happening in the North Caucasus or the events in Georgia in the 90s of the last century, I always explore the lives of individuals who played an important role in these events. Khamzat Khankarov is a very interesting person for me. He can be called Che Guevara of the Caucasus. This person full of revolutionary romanticism and great courage should be well known throughout the Caucasus. The desire to present him as a model of heroism and prompted me to create this film. I would like to note that this film was an attempt to highlight the truth about the events that took place in the North Caucasus for 30 years in the 90s of the last century. I think that although a little, I have achieved this. For 30 years, real Caucasian heroes were represented by terrorists, and terrorists by heroes. "The author of the "Caucasian anthem" of the legendary fighter Khamzat Khankarov had one great goal - the freedom and independence of the whole Caucasus. In documentary, there is such a thing - the author must love his hero. Exploring Khamzat Khankarov, getting to know him closer, I so loved the image of Khamzat as a true hero of the Caucasus, that I ordered his portrait of my friend the artist. As soon as the portrait is ready, I will hang it in the office directly above my head. "
The author noted that in connection with the 25th anniversary of the heroic death of Khamzat Khankarov, a commemoration ceremony was held in Germany. Members of the Chechen diaspora, as well as members of the Ichkerian government in emigration, took part in it. During this ceremony, the film was also presented, which was greeted with great sympathy by the participants of the event. Duration of the film 35 minutes. He is in Russian.
The author notes that, if possible, he intends to dub in the Azerbaijani language. At the same time, he is working on the video of the Caucasus Anthem by Khamzat Khankarov. In this clip will be all the heroes of the Caucasus, starting from the North Caucasus up to Azerbaijan and Georgia, inclusive. The clip in its form will be particularly different. -0-

This notion was vividly brought to life at the fifth annual “FantazEU” Cultural Heritage Festival, organized by the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Azerbaijan. The festival’s centerpiece, an exhibition of European national costumes, offered visitors a unique glimpse into the historical and cultural tapestries of Europe while underscoring the unifying power of art and tradition.
