100 heads of yaks have been released into Lachin pastures
Baku/15.12.22/Turan: 100 heads of yaks brought by air from Kyrgyzstan in special cages are placed in the Lachin region.
This is reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture.
The Miinistry's plans include the creation of a specialized yak meat farm in Azerbaijan. The process is implemented as a part of a pilot project and is intended for testing. Before the import of yaks in the Kelbajar and Lachin regions, monitoring was held with the participation of Kyrgyz specialists and appropriate sites were selected. Cattle were delivered from Baku to the place of deployment on heavy trucks.
"These animals are adapted to living in a cold mountain climate. Yaks intended for feeding in open areas are kept under the supervision of specialists. Special warning signs prohibiting hunting of animals are installed on the territory. Continuous monitoring is carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture to monitor the process of adaptation of the animals to natural conditions," the Ministry said in a statement.
To remind, yaks graze on natural pastures without a special feed ration. Yaks that live up to 25 years old and feed on plants on pasture are less exigent of food. The fat content of yak milk is 9%.
"The breeding of these animals is economically beneficial due to the yield and quality of meat," the Ministry of Agriculture said in a statement. However, the Ministry has not yet disclosed the financial aspects of this project: the cost of the contract for the purchase of animals, the cost of their protection, etc.- 08B-
